Residential Summer Riding Camps are offered during July and August, for small groups of girls aged 10 - 16 years. Campers come not only from Canada but other parts of the world too. We have had campers from Japan, Hong Kong, France, Mexico and the USA. For first time campers or for those just wishing to experience the true camping spirit, these camps will fulfill their dreams and set parents' minds at ease.

DAY CAMP SPACES
Here is an opportunity to spend a week with your "own" horse at one of our amazing camps. Usually only open to Residential Campers, this year we have some spaces available for Day Campers. The day camp offers the same fun-filled, horse-centered program as our regular girls' residential camps. These camps are for children aged 10 - 16. Preference will be given to those who can already walk and trot confidently. Those attending Day Camp (Monday to Friday) will join the program from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. Limited space available on first come first served basis so check the website for availability and call/email before sending in your registration. Each day will include one formal riding lesson in the morning and then games on horseback in the afternoon. Lunch provided. Other activities include a trail ride, the Amazing Race on Horseback, crafts, games and swimming.

DAY CAMP COSTS:
$600 + $30 GST if paid on or before June 30 OR $600 + $78 HST if paid after June 30

We are a professional, year-round riding school and we own our own horses. We do not lease horses for the camp season as there are too many unknowns - we know and love each of our horses (they are part of the family) and are better able to match them to each camper. ..........
Our emphasis is on Fun, Safety and Friendship. Unlike other camp programs that include horses as a small part of their program, at Shadow Ridge Equestrian Center....horses ARE the program! We are 100% horse from the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms decor to our awesome crafts.

Horses also provide excitement, freedom, adventure and friendship. Girls want creativity, challenges, and personal connections in their lives while at the same time having fun. Using horses as a wonderful vehicle and voice for education, our camps offer a tremendously engaging and effective arena for growth and learning.

At Shadow Ridge we try to create a loving, caring family atmosphere for our campers. Your child is welcome to email or phone you at any time during their stay. However, they are usually too busy having fun to do this. Our excellent crafts and activities create personalized memories of your child's vacation. Each child will receive a camp t-shirt, and a personalized photo CD (usually 300-500 pictures) of their stay at camp. Memories they will cherish for a lifetime.

Our staff to camper ratio is 1:3 during riding lessons and all other camp activities. Residential campers staying for more than one week will take part in everyday family/farm activities, area tours and special events on the weekends.

Residential Camps run from Sunday (arrive between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm) to Friday night (campers to be picked up between 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm) unless coming for an extended stay.

Complimentary transportation can be provided to and from the Perth or Carleton Place Greyhound Terminal. Transportation to and from Ottawa International Airport by arrangement at an additional cost of $50 (CDN) each way.

FUN AT THE LAKE

Melanie purchased a waterfront lot in 2006, close by on Mississippi Lake, so we now have access to go swimming and boating when the weather is really hot and on the days we go to the tuck shop. It is only about a 4 minute drive from here so it is very convenient.
